I’m delivering Line Management and Supervision Training on 21st September 2026, 7.00pm - 8.30pm online (via zoom). You can book by dropping me an email to ali@theresource.org.uk
In this training I cover the essentials of good line management wrapping my content around the acronym ACE (Accountability, Communication and Expectations) - so, if you want to make it ACE - you need to nail those three things!
I run through :
The importance of working from a good job description.
Why the person specification is your most important document.
Reflective Practice.
Line Management Meetings and Follow Up.
Collaborative decision making.
Tackling the detail well - expenses, time off, keeping short + accounts, action points and follow up.
Annual Reviews.
Creating wrap around care for a worker (Good line management includes creating time for rest and retreat, training opportunities, leadership development and personal growth of the worker).
All those who attend the training will receive the training slides + any tools referenced after the event.
I’ve been running this kind of training for the last five years. What I find slightly staggering is that this doesn’t generally feature in clergy or church leader training. My own research has shown that many who ‘line manage’ have never had training in Line Management and Supervision. With more and more churches now looking to employ children’s and youth ministers, it would be great if this became essential training for ordinands alongside theological training.
